In January 2024 we were contacted by a potential client Andreas who was in the process of having a Pondless waterfall installed in his garden in Cyprus. Andreas was in the process of building his retirement home and wanted the Waterfall as a focal point for the garden. Unfortunately the local contractors who had started the project did not have the expertise required to deliver the project. Having come across videos of Nice Ponds projects online, Andreas contacted us in the hope we would travel to Cyprus to deliver his vision. After an initial phone call and some research into logistics, Matt flew out to Cyprus for a design consultation. The site posed some logistical challenges but nothing Nice Ponds couldn’t handle and we came up with a fantastic multi tier waterfall design for the space. Andreas was also a fantastic host, taking Matt to visit some of the local attractions including a Roman Amphitheatre and sampling lots of delicious Cypriot food.
Due to project scheduling and the extreme heat in the summer, Matt and Dylan flew back out to Cyprus in October 2024 to deliver the project. Despite it being a cooler time of year, they still faced extreme temperatures which were magnified by the courtyard setting of the project. Over the next 2 weeks all of the design, planning and hard work paid off and Matt and Dylan were able to create a stunning Pondless Waterfall, exactly as Andreas had envisioned. Having been told by his friends, family and even the main contractor for the house build that the project was not possible, Andreas was over the moon.
One year on Matt flew back to Cyprus to visit the project, now that the house and gardens were nearing completion. The Waterfall was looking as good as ever and tied in beautifully with the swimming pool and formal Koi Pond that surrounded it. Andreas already had ideas for future projects, so who knows when Nice Ponds will find themselves back in the Mediterranean….
